Founder of the Storytale Festival – the inspiring individual who brought a fantastic group of people together to help her make the festival a reality.

Co-founder & Event Host

Co-founder of the Storytale Festival and author of time travel adventure trilogy Time Shifters – intended to run just one creative writing workshop for children at Storysmith and somehow ended up co-organising the festival!


Nicola Fleming

Brand Identity & Design

Owner of Grounded Cloud: branding, print and digital design specialists. Grounded Cloud sponsored the Storytale Festival with brand naming, brand identity creation, design for printed materials and website design.

Jenny Farrington

Storytale Festival Copywriter

Freelance Creative Copywriter – involved at the beginning of the Storytale journey. Came up with the festival’s strapline and tone of voice, then wrote the copy for the website and advertising materials.

Adam Kear

Web Design Assistant

Worked alongside Nicola at
Grounded Cloud – Adam helped keep the coding nice and tidy.

Children’s book illustrator, whose publishers include Simon & Schuster and Nosy Crow – co-hosting an online storytelling and craft session based on Wanda’s Words Got Stuck, with author Lucy Rowland.

Event Host

Author and illustrator – hosting an online treasure map making session based on her book series, Jasper and Scruff.


Gabriel Dylan

Event Host

Author of psychological horror novel Whiteout and secondary school teacher – hosting an online talk about what makes a good scary book.

Uh Oh Books founders, who create fun and interactive ways to discuss environmental issues with children – hosting an online craft session based on their book “Uh-Oh!” Said Flo.


Anna Hoghton

Event Host

Author of The Mask of Aribella, published by Chicken House Books and nominee for the Sakura Medal and North Somerset Teachers’ Book Award – hosting an online masterclass on how to create convincing magical story settings.


Gareth Jones

Event Host

Award-winning author of over 40 books for children, and festival performer – hosting an online session to introduce the third book in his Dragon Detective series, Sky High! and perform the accompanying song on various instruments.


Malaika Kegode

Event Host

Poet/writer, performer and producer who has worked with Roundhouse, Historic England, Elstree Studios and the BBC, and was included in the BME Power List, celebrating Bristol’s 100 most influential black & minority ethnic people – hosting an online creative writing session.

Sophie Kirtley

Author of The Wild Way Home – hosting an online creative writing workshop, with viewers on a wild walk stomp about!

Kate Maliner

Author of feel-good teen books Summer of No Regrets (shortlisted for the Bristol Teen Book Award) and Asking for a Friend – hosting an online talk about the topic of feel-good teenage fiction.
