Applications for Storytale Festival 2023

Our fifth festival will be taking place over the first weekend of October half term, from Friday 27th to Monday 30th of October 2023.

The deadline to submit your application is Monday 20th February 2023 and we’ll contact applicants by the end of March 2023.

We are looking for a range of interactive events, workshops and activities that appeal to a variety of ages and interests, that will showcase local talent and inspire young people, in keeping with our Storytale Festival vision. Previous events that have been particularly successful have been creative and inspiring, where young people have been fully engaged through interactive sessions with authors, illustrators and storytellers. Examples include:

  • An interactive and fascinating discovery of wild and wonderful creatures with BBC producer Justin Anderson in the Secrets of Snow Leopards.
  • Inspiring creative writing workshops for older children on climate change, time travel, adventure stories and fantastic ideas and where to find them.
  • Creating characters with illustrators Paula Bowles, Nicola Colton and Lucy Freegard.
  • Atmospheric and engaging storytelling with The Wild of the Words, Jenny the Story Lady, Uh Oh Books and Winter Sleep authors Alex Morss and Sean Taylor.

We’re planning for events to take place in local and accessible public venues such as libraries, community centres and bookshops. All of our events will be either free or affordable at £5 or under. We’ll be using Eventbrite and any ticket revenue will go back into the festival to either cover this year’s costs or put towards the next one.

Please complete the form as fully as possible, and inspire us! Thank you!
