Applications for Storytale Festival 2020

Our first festival in October 2019 was a success with 43 events over ten days at 27 venues with 28 authors, illustrators and storytellers, 11 scientists, and more than 1000 participants, all done on a shoestring budget.

This year’s festival will be taking place again over October half term, Saturday 24th October – Sunday 1st November and we can’t wait to see what wonderful and exciting proposals we’ll get this year!

Storytale Festival currently has no funding, so please only apply if you’re willing to donate your time, skills and talent. We’ll be hugely appreciative and we’re working hard to make the festival financially viable and we’d love to be in a position to pay our talented contributors. We’re proactively applying for funding, and with the experience of a successful festival behind us, we’re in a better position to secure it, but there are no guarantees.

We are looking for a range of interactive events, workshops and activities that appeal to a variety of ages and interests, that will showcase local talent and inspire young people, in keeping with our Storytale Festival vision.

Last year our events took place in local and accessible public venues such as libraries, community centres and bookshops, and we had an independent bookseller at most events too. All of our events were either free or affordable at £5 or under and we plan to do this again. We’ll be using Tickets Ignite and any ticket revenue will go back into the festival to either cover this year’s costs or put towards the next one.

The deadline to submit your application is the 1st March and we’ll get back to you with a decision by the end of April.

Please complete the form as fully as possible, and inspire us! Thank you!
